The CALOTEST® instrument is widely used for analysing coatings with a thickness typically between 0.1 to 50 µm. The CALOWEAR instrument can measure both the thickness and the intrinsic wear coefficient of coatings. It allows the evaluation of the intrinsic wear coefficient, K, of bulk materials. For a coated sample, the wear coefficients of both the coating and the substrate can be determined.
