Automated image acquisition of cathode active material particles in lithium-ion batteries

Lithium-ion Battery (LiB) cathode active materials are developed toward microminiaturization in their grain size and high densification to reduce the battery internal resistance. Particle shapes are confirmed and their sizes are measured with the SEM routinely. In this study, particle search of a specific shape and size by image recognition and following procedures of automated image acquisitions for detailed surface a software for auto SEM imaging, allows the user to create recipes for observation tasks and automatically perform SEM image acquisition by arranging SEM function blocks such as magnification, stage position, focus adjustment and so on.
