Optical metrology solutions for laser texturing

Laser texturing has become a key technology for engineering surface functionality in advanced manufacturing, enabling controlled modification of surface topography at the micro- and nano-scale.

By generating features such as dimples or grooves, it enables precise control of friction, wettability, adhesion, reflectivity, and biocompatibility. These textures are applied in automotive, aerospace, medical, and tooling applications where surface geometry directly determines functional performance. The final behavior depends on the depth, spacing, morphology, and repeatability of the laser-induced structures.

The 3D surface topography of laser-textured surfaces plays a critical role in understanding and evaluating their functional performance. Depending on the laser processing regime, this topography can vary across different spatial scales and height modulations.
